இயற்கையியல் பற்றிக் கட்டுரைகளும் நூல்களும் ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதி உலகப் புகழ்பெற்றவர். பத்மஸ்ரீ, ஜவகர்லால் நேரு நல்கை
முதலிய பெருமைகள் அவரைத் தேடி வந்தன. தமிழின் தொடக்க கால நாவலாசிரியர்களில் ஒருவரா அ.மாதவையாவின் மகன்.
1950,60களில் தமிழ் இதழ்களிலும் கலைக்கள்ஞ்சியத்திலும் அவர் எழுதிய கட்டுரைகள் மிகவும் முக்கியமானவை
